About the tool

How Therapy Fit works

Most people start therapy with whichever approach their first available therapist uses. Therapy Fit uses your answers to match you to the approach most likely to fit your specific patterns — before you start the search.

Step 1

Answer a short set of questions

The quiz takes about 2–3 minutes. It asks about what feels hard right now, how you respond to stress, what already helps, and how you want therapy to feel. No diagnosis. No personal data collected.

Step 2

Get matched to therapy approaches

The scoring uses evidence-informed patterns — not a checklist — to surface the three approaches most likely to fit. Each result includes a plain-language explanation of why it came up and what to look for in a provider.

Step 3

Find a provider and take next steps

  • Illinois providers filtered by modality, ZIP, insurance, and telehealth
  • Credential guidance — what letters to look for when searching
  • Deep-dive pages for each approach with good-fit indicators
Optional

Go deeper with the advanced quiz

The standard quiz takes about two minutes. If you want more specificity — particularly around trauma, nervous system patterns, or relationship dynamics — the advanced quiz goes further.

Important: Therapy Fit is an educational tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional care. If you need immediate support, go to Crisis Resources.
