Why this exists
“I’m a pre-licensed art therapist — and I’ve also been the person sitting across from one, trying to figure out where to start. I built TherapyFit because the mental health system is genuinely hard to navigate, and that shouldn’t be the thing that stops someone from getting help. This site exists to meet you where you are: whether you’ve never heard the word ‘therapy’ before, you’re making an appointment in the middle of the worst week of your life, or you just need to know what those letters after your therapist’s name actually mean. The FAQ are written for the person who has a hundred questions and no idea where to start asking them. The credentials guide was made because some titles require zero formal training, while others require a master’s degree — and you deserve to know that. The script for booking your first appointment is included because picking up the phone during a depressive episode is genuinely hard, and no one should have to figure out what to say on top of everything else.
I also know that therapy alone doesn’t fix everything. Sometimes what someone needs most is help paying rent, finding community, or just knowing what resources exist. That’s in here too.”
